A method focused on changing thought and behavior patterns through language, perception, and mental strategies.
From the perspective of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (which is what NLP stands for), it is fascinating to diagnose how we organize what we see, hear, and feel—what we receive from the external world. In my opinion, some of the exercises and techniques are particularly interesting and applicable in interviews. I appreciate how this method focuses on achieving results in the therapeutic process and on the client’s awareness of their responsibility for those results.
Example:
"I don’t want to feel bad." → "How do you want to feel instead?"
"I want my wife to be more sensitive." → "How would you like to change yourself to make that happen?"
NLP is the science and art of doing what you do in your life better and more effectively:
Conduct negotiations skillfully
Be a good leader, parent, or entrepreneur
Plan your time efficiently and productively
Take care of your health and feel better
Stay in good shape
Learn to overcome fears and move forward
Increase your prosperity and boost your income
Learn faster and more effectively
...and also
Learn to do what you’ve never done before to achieve what you’ve always wanted.
ДNLP is a wonderful technique—it allows you to understand and truly hear a person in an instant. Working with it, my clients learn to find common ground with colleagues and managers, understand the intent behind advertising in the media, and manage manipulative techniques.Дмитрий Александрович Ткаченко
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) emerged from the therapeutic work of influential psychologists such as Fritz Perls (founder of Gestalt therapy), Virginia Satir (systemic family therapy), and Milton Erickson (Ericksonian hypnosis). Its creators, John Bandler and Richard Grinder, asked a pivotal question: what exactly did these masters do that made their clients feel better after sessions? By closely observing their methods and collaborating with them, they identified the core elements that drove change, stripping away the irrelevant. This breakthrough occurred in 1974. As Michael Hall noted, "Through modeling, the founders of NLP uncovered and understood the patterns and structures that have the greatest impact on people." NLP focuses not on "why" but on "how." It is not a theory but a practical method that demonstrates how psychological change occurs. NLP is built on three key components: the neurological (the brain as a 'computer' storing experiences in visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory, and gustatory modalities), the linguistic (verbal and non-verbal means of encoding experience), and programming (the formation of habitual responses to external stimuli). By altering key submodalities linked to specific events, individuals can transform their emotional state and behavior. NLP enables rapid resolution of phobias, allergies, and long-standing issues in just a few sessions. Core techniques include working with submodalities, language patterns, anchoring, reframing life scripts, parts integration, and timeline therapy. NLP is a short-term yet profound therapeutic approach, with 90% of its power lying in practice. Its essence is not in explanation but in transformation. It’s best experienced firsthand to appreciate its effectiveness.
