A body-oriented approach focused on deep relaxation and acceptance of life-death processes.
АThanatotherapy is an effective method for addressing psychological challenges, yielding positive results in psychosomatic conditions, intrapersonal conflicts, prolonged emotional states, depression, fears, and in rediscovering personal strength and the ability to derive joy from life.
This is a body-oriented psychotherapy approach (see body-oriented psychotherapy). All thanatotherapy techniques operate on the "language of the body," which is intuitive for both the body and the client’s psyche, so results are often immediate. The method is applied after establishing trust between the client and the psychologist and when the client feels a sense of personal safety.
A session unfolds as follows. The client articulates their request (the issue they wish to resolve). One advantage of this method is that the client doesn’t need to verbalize the problem; they can leave it for internal reflection. They lie down on the floor, settle into a comfortable position, and relax. From there, the psychologist takes the lead—no further action is required from the client. They simply rest and internally observe the body-based techniques being applied. All techniques are safe, carry psychological meaning, and help the client gain insight into themselves, significant situations, and relationships. After the session, clarity emerges, and emotional relief follows. Sessions may be accompanied by calming music. The client remains conscious throughout. Each session lasts 45–60 minutes, followed by a discussion. This method is suitable for everyone.Алексей Марченко
