The protagonist's father is a spendthrift, and to avoid becoming like him, he has been saving every penny since childhood—even retrieving leftover toothpaste from the sink to avoid buying a new tube.
Now an adult and a creative soul—a musician who counts every cent—he can't bring himself to invite his new colleague, whom he likes, to a restaurant because it would mean spending money.
But to change, fate introduces him to a beautiful woman, and suddenly his daughter appears at the start of the film. From there, the plot unfolds as the two subtly chip away at his deeply ingrained miserly habits. Each day, he realizes that his stingy lifestyle has left him lonely, and by the end of the film, a full-blown tragedy unfolds as our hero undergoes a radical transformation—though some habits remain.
The film explores how childhood and the values instilled by our parents shape our lives. It highlights the need for a healthy balance between wastefulness and excessive frugality. And of course, it shows that love melts hearts—every person who closes themselves off from the world still craves support and warmth from loved ones.
A successful comedy that makes you laugh and cry in equal measure. I think everyone will find a piece of themselves in this film, so I recommend watching it :)
